Spring 2026 Screenings

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be screening The Last Unicorn (1982) in HECC 105 at 6:30 PM on January, 15th.

  • From a riddle-speaking butterfly, a unicorn learns that she is supposedly the last of her kind, all the others having been herded away by the Red Bull. The unicorn sets out to discover the truth behind the butterfly’s words. She is eventually joined on her quest by Schmendrick, a second-rate magician, and Molly Grue, a now middle-aged woman who dreamed all her life of seeing a unicorn. Their journey leads them far from home, all the way to the castle of King Haggard.

  • The Aggie Arthouse and SWAMP Filmmaking Club will be hosting a screening of Charles Burnett's Killer of Sheep (1978) followed by a virtual Q&A with the acclaimed director. The event will take place at 6 PM on February 6th.

    Charles Burnett is widely regarded as one of the most important American filmmakers, and a central figure of the L.A. Rebellion movement. Killer of Sheep is often cited by critics and scholars as one of the greatest independent films ever made for its honest, humane portrayal of Black working-class life. In 2017, Burnett received an Honorary Academy Award in recognition of his lifelong contributions to cinema, and his work is frequently praised by filmmakers and critics for its quiet power, emotional depth, and cultural significance.


  • An African-American man working at a slaughterhouse in the Watts area of Los Angeles leads a dissatisfied and listless existence.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be showing Federico Fellini's 8 1/2 (1963) in ARCB 101 on February 27th at 6:00 PM.

    8 1/2 (1963) is a landmark Italian surrealist comedy-drama that is widely regarded as one of the greatest films about filmmaking ever made. The meta-fictional story follows Guido Anselmi (Marcello Mastroianni), a famous director struggling with creative block, personal life, and immense pressure while trying to create his next science-fiction film. 


  • Guido Anselmi, a film director, finds himself creatively barren at the peak of his career. Urged by his doctors to rest, Anselmi heads for a luxurious resort, but a sorry group gathers—his producer, staff, actors, wife, mistress, and relatives—each one begging him to get on with the show. In retreat from their dependency, he fantasizes about past women and dreams of his childhood.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be showing Tommy Wiseau’s The Room (2003) in ARCB 101 on April 1st at 7:00 PM.


  • Johnny is a successful banker with great respect for and dedication to the people in his life, especially his future wife Lisa. The happy-go-lucky guy sees his world being torn apart when his friends begin to betray him one-by-one.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be showing Giuseppe Tornatore’s Cinema Paradiso (1988) in ARCB 101 on April 24th at 6:00 PM.

  • A filmmaker recalls his childhood, when he fell in love with the movies at his village’s theater and formed a deep friendship with the theater’s projectionist.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be screening the 4K Restoration of Edward Yang’s Yi Yi (2000) in HECC 105 at 6:00 PM on January, 23rd.

  • Each member of a Taipei family asks hard questions about life’s meaning as they experience everyday quandaries. NJ is morose: his brother owes him money, his mother-in-law is in a coma, his wife suffers a spiritual crisis when she finds her life a blank and his business partners make bad decisions.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be showing Paris Je T'aime (2006) in ARCB 101 on February 12th at 7:00 PM.

    Paris, je t'aime (2006) is an anthology film featuring 18 distinct short films—each set in a different Paris arrondissement—exploring various facets of love, passion, and human connection. Directed by 22 international filmmakers, including the Coen Brothers, Gus Van Sant, and Alfonso Cuarón, the film showcases a diverse ensemble cast in a modern, multicultural portrait of the city. 


  • Olivier Assayas, Gus Van Sant, Wes Craven and Alfonso Cuaron are among the 20 distinguished directors who contribute to this collection of 18 stories, each exploring a different aspect of Parisian life. The colourful characters in this drama include a pair of mimes, a husband trying to choose between his wife and his lover, and a married man who turns to a prostitute for advice.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be showing Moral (1978) in ARCB 101 on March 5th at 7:00 PM.

  • The episodically connected lives of four college friends unfold throughout the incipient martial law years, as they struggle to define their sexual and professional desires and how best to attain them.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be showing Costa-Gavras’ Z (1969) in ARCB 101 on April 10th at 6:00 PM.

  • A prominent politician is murdered during a demonstration. The government and army are trying to suppress the truth, but a tenacious magistrate is determined to not to let them get away with it.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be screening James Ivory’s Maurice (1987) in ARCB 101 at 6:00 PM on January, 30th.

  • After his lover rejects him, Maurice attempts to come to terms with his sexuality within the restrictiveness of Edwardian society.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be screening Trainspotting (1996) in ARCB 101 at 7:00 PM on Thursday, February, 19th.

  • Heroin addict Mark Renton stumbles through bad ideas and sobriety attempts with his unreliable friends –Sick Boy, Begbie, Spud and Tommy. He also has an underage girlfriend, Diane, along for the ride. After cleaning up and moving from Edinburgh to London, Mark finds he can’t escape the life he left behind as Begbie and Sick Boy come knocking.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be showing Amir Naderi’s The Runner (1984) in ARCB 101 on March 27th at 6:00 PM.

  • A young orphan named Amiro lives alone in an abandoned tanker in the Iranian port city of Abadan. He survives by shining shoes, selling water, and collecting deposit bottles. Although he sometimes finds himself at odds with both adults and competing older kids, he finds solace in dreams about departing cargo ships and airplanes—and by running.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be showing Gummo (1997) in ARCB 101 on April 20th at 7:00 PM.

  • Teenagers Solomon and Tummler kill time in Xenia, Ohio, a small town that has never recovered from the tornado that ravaged the community in the 1970s.

  • This Howdy Week, we will be showing Stand By Me (1986) on August 22nd, 2025 on the East Quad near the LAAH Courtyard. The movie starts at 8:00 PM, but you’ll want to get there early for concessions! We’ll have popcorn, candy and drinks, and to beat the Texas heat, snow cones! The event is Free Admission!

  • After learning that a boy their age has been accidentally killed near their rural homes, four Oregon boys decide to go see the body. On the way, Gordie, Vern, Chris and Teddy learn more about one another and their very different home lives. Just a lark at first, the boys’ adventure evolves into a defining event in their lives.

  • Based on the journals of Che Guevara, leader of the Cuban Revolution. In his memoirs, Guevara recounts adventures he and best friend Alberto Granado had while crossing South America by motorcycle in the early 1950s.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be showing Enter the Void (2009) directed by Gaspar Noe on Friday, October 17th in ARCB 101 at 6 PM. 

  • This psychedelic tour of life after death is seen entirely from the point of view of Oscar, a young American drug dealer and addict living in Tokyo with his prostitute sister, Linda. When Oscar is killed by police during a bust gone bad, his spirit journeys from the past – where he sees his parents before their deaths – to the present – where he witnesses his own autopsy – and then to the future, where he looks out for his sister from beyond the grave.

  • Hiroko attends the memorial service of her fiancé, Itsuki Fujii, who died in a mountain-climbing incident. Although Itsuki’s mother says that their old house is gone, Hiroko records the address listed under his name in his yearbook and sends him a letter. Surprisingly, she receives a reply, and discovers it came from his old classmate, a girl who also happens to be called Itsuki Fujii.

  • Pepa resolves to kill herself with a batch of sleeping-pill-laced gazpacho after her lover leaves her. Fortunately, she is interrupted by a deliciously chaotic series of events.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be showing Possession (1981) directed by Andrzej Żuławski on Thursday, October 23rd in ARCB 101 at 7 PM. 

  • A young woman left her family for an unspecified reason. The husband determines to find out the truth and starts following his wife. At first, he suspects that a man is involved. But gradually, he finds out more and more strange behaviors and bizarre incidents that indicate something more than a possessed love affair.

  • We will be showing Love and a .45 (1994) on September 5th in Rudder Forum. After the screening, we will be showing a virtual Q&A with the director. Audience members can submit a question here!

    this movie was the first and last directed by C.M. Talkington, who shot it entirely in Texas. It stars academy-award winner and Houstonian Renee Zellweger (Bridget Jone’s Diary, Chicago) in her breakout role, as well as Gil Bellows (Shawshank Redemption), Rory Cochrane (Dazed and Confused), and Peter Fonda (Easy Rider).

  • Small-time criminal Watty Watts attempts to rob a convenience store with his drug-addict buddy, Billy Mack Black. The robbery, however, leads to murder, and soon Watty leaves Billy behind and goes on the run with his beloved girlfriend, Starlene. Heading toward Mexico, the fugitive couple gets plenty of media coverage, until there are even more people on their trail. Can Watty and Starlene make it south of the border without getting caught?

  • A quiet young English girl named Alice finds herself in an alternate version of her own reality after chasing a white rabbit. She becomes surrounded by living inanimate objects and stuffed dead animals, and must find a way out of this nightmare - no matter how twisted or odd that way must be. A memorably bizarre screen version of Lewis Carroll’s novel “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”.
