  • This Howdy Week, we will be showing Stand By Me (1986) on August 22nd, 2025 on the East Quad near the LAAH Courtyard. The movie starts at 8:00 PM, but you’ll want to get there early for concessions! We’ll have popcorn, candy and drinks, and to beat the Texas heat, snow cones! The event is Free Admission!

  • After learning that a boy their age has been accidentally killed near their rural homes, four Oregon boys decide to go see the body. On the way, Gordie, Vern, Chris and Teddy learn more about one another and their very different home lives. Just a lark at first, the boys’ adventure evolves into a defining event in their lives.

  • Join The Aggie Arthouse for a special screening of The Motorcycle Diaries (2004), the acclaimed film directed by Academy-Award Winning director Walter Salles follows a young Che Guevara’s transformative journey across South America. More than just a road trip, the film captures questions of identity, social justice, and the power of human connection across borders.

    We’re showing this film in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and to celebrate Gael García Bernal — one of the most outspoken Mexican actors and a champion of international cinema. Come experience a landmark film that continues to inspire audiences worldwide, and share in celebrating the global spirit of cinema.

  • Based on the journals of Che Guevara, leader of the Cuban Revolution. In his memoirs, Guevara recounts adventures he and best friend Alberto Granado had while crossing South America by motorcycle in the early 1950s.

  • The Aggie Arthouse will be screening Pedro Almodóvar’s Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988), the breakout international hit that launched Spain’s most celebrated contemporary filmmaker onto the world stage.

    Almodóvar is known for his daring blend of melodrama, comedy, and vivid visual style — telling stories that center women, differing identities, and the complexity of human desire. Over his career, he has become a defining voice of post-Franco Spanish cinema and one of the most influential directors in global film.

    With its whirlwind plot, eccentric humor, and unforgettable performances, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdownexemplifies the spirit of Almodóvar’s work: bold, playful, and deeply human. Join us as we celebrate the artistry of a filmmaker who continues to expand the possibilities of international cinema.

  • Pepa resolves to kill herself with a batch of sleeping-pill-laced gazpacho after her lover leaves her. Fortunately, she is interrupted by a deliciously chaotic series of events.

  • We will be showing Love and a .45 (1994) on September 5th in Rudder Forum. After the screening, we will be showing a virtual Q&A with the director. Audience members can submit a question here!

    this movie was the first and last directed by C.M. Talkington, who shot it entirely in Texas. It stars academy-award winner and Houstonian Renee Zellweger (Bridget Jone’s Diary, Chicago) in her breakout role, as well as Gil Bellows (Shawshank Redemption), Rory Cochrane (Dazed and Confused), and Peter Fonda (Easy Rider).

  • Small-time criminal Watty Watts attempts to rob a convenience store with his drug-addict buddy, Billy Mack Black. The robbery, however, leads to murder, and soon Watty leaves Billy behind and goes on the run with his beloved girlfriend, Starlene. Heading toward Mexico, the fugitive couple gets plenty of media coverage, until there are even more people on their trail. Can Watty and Starlene make it south of the border without getting caught?
